A canonical link is an HTML link tag with the attribute rel=cannonical. It tells the search engine that the particular Link or URL has material which may also be present on another (canonical) page, link or website. The content may be duplicated or multi present in similar names as they refer to the same set and may be considered as a single unit. This will let the search engine not consider your content as plagiarized and hence preserve the site ranking.
